Primal Scream
"Country Girl" b/w "Stone Ya To The Bone" and "Gimme Some Truth"

Go pick up the new Primal Scream single and blast it at full volume, repeatedly... until your neighbors call the police. Or until you remember what real music sounds like.

Once upon a time there was this thing called Rock & Roll. Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Elvis, the Stones, the NY Dolls, the Sex Pistols, The Cramps, etc. Robert Johnson died for your sins. But somewhere along the way, Rock & Roll got buried. Buried under an avalanche of boring bullshit. Primal Scream has had enough!

"Country Girl" is the best anthem the Stones never wrote. And if you don't like it because "it's been done before" - C'mon! Everything's been done before! And everything will be done again! It's about doing it right. And the Scream knows how to do it right.

Their fantastic new single only gets better with the b-sides. "Stone Ya To The Bone" sounds like an unholy combination of Suicide and Canned Heat covering Exile on Main Street while jacked full of speed that Lemmy from Motorhead scored for them. And the 2nd b-side, a cover of John Lennon's scorcher "Gimme Some Truth" is totally reworked into a Buzzcock-inspired, revved up slice of filthy, razorsharp, bubblegum 77' punk that is pure fuckin' genius. This should be the ass-shaking, foot-stomping, whiskey-guzzling soundtrack to your life this summer. This record is a 3-song, soul-stirring, inspired assault on the landscape of sonic mediocrity that is most modern guitar-based music in the summer of 2006.

Long live Primal Scream! Saviours of Rock and Roll!
